Fox News host Bret Baier claimed Kamala Harris arrived 15 minutes late to his interview as he was giving his verdict on the vice president's performance.
The veteran host spoke to his colleague Dana Perino after the 27-minute interview on Wednesday night and said it was hard to "redirect" the Democratic candidate without interrupting her.
Bair compared Harris arriving late to the interview to a kicker in football taking a time-out before making a field goal.
"They're icing the kicker," he said. "So, we had to start at 5 p.m. That's the time they gave us. Originally, we were going to do 25 or 30 minutes. They came in and said, 'OK, maybe 20.' So, it's already getting shorter.
"And then the vice president came in at about 5:15 p.m.", he said, adding that it was a short amount of time because the show airs at 6 p.m.
Bair was criticized online for repeatedly interrupting the vice president and speaking over him during the interview, where the two got into a heated exchange at times.
Addressing his interruptions, he told Perino: "I knew when we started the conversation that it would be hard to redirect her without me intervening.
"I did that with President Obama — one time I just said, 'Mr. President, I know you like to filibuster.' I didn't even get a chance to redirect in those ways sometimes. I had so many other questions."
Trump responded to the interview by accusing Harris of having "an irreparable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome", and – despite concerns over his own cognitive abilities – suggested the vice president should undergo a cognitive test.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump said: "She is not capable of talking about any other topic except the person who had the best economy, the strongest border in history, and who has the unanimous support of the US Border Patrol, i.e. mine!"
